Like every X game before it, they released a totally broken thing of parts and now a few years later it's really shaping up to meet its vision. I had enough fun that I preordered the Home of Light expansion. The auto save wasn't far back though so I only lost a few minutes and everything was fine on the second load. I did see one funny bug, an enemy fighter spawned inside of the station it was attacking. Some of the options don't work, like confine mouse to window, and I'm having issues with setting up a controller but none of these are a big deal, I've always preferred playing X games kbam anyway. No broken missions so far, I made to the new sector and made contact for reference. The only occurences were in a few busy areas inside stations while on foot. So I spent all night playing X Rebirth last night with very few slow downs or drops in frame. I'm not sure what the actual numbers are.but the Steam, XBox, and expansion ED would need about $78mil to match SC's funding. I keep admiring the design of so many of its systems, even if it still needs a lot more content. It's such a well-crafted and designed game. SC gets so much publicity because the money is not for a finished project, but I think at this point the two teams are working with comparable financial backing.Īnyone think I'm wrong? I don't have exact numbers or anything.Įlite definitely has a saner approach to development. I would not be surprised if they are now working with more money than the SC guys. They had pulled in $22 million -before- they released on Steam and XBox or released their expansion. I can't shake the feeling that if Star Citizen ends up way better than Elite Dangerous I will actually just be sad instead of enjoying SC.ĮD is doing well. Their planets video more makes me sad that Elite doesn't have the same level of funding than it does make me excited for Star Citizen. It's starting to honestly look amazing, and I want to be excited for it, but I just don't dig it as much as Elite for some reason. Still, there is something about Star Citizen.
